
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of Laguna Beach Seniors. Members volunteer
to serve three-year terms and assume responsibilities that include governance, strategic
planning, financial and ethical oversight, securing the resources that make
our work, and being our ambassadors in the community.

Renae Hinchey
Board President
Renae Hinchey served as the General Manager of Laguna Beach County Water District for 20 years. Prior to this, she worked for Western Municipal Water District as Manager of Public Relations, Publications, and Human Resources for more than ten years. She has also worked for both public and private organizations throughout her career, including eight years with TRW and eight years with Southern California Gas Company. She has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and holds a Lifetime Teaching Credential.

Stephany Skenderian
Board Vice President
As a 25-year resident of Laguna Beach, with a strong commitment to participate in meaningful causes through volunteer service, Stephany Skenderian’s positive energy has fostered many new ideas for this organization. Skenderian has served on a number of boards, including the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club, and is a lifetime member of the Orange County Dental Hygienist Society after a 41 year career in the field. She’s an active donor of multiple non-profits in the area.

Gail Schickling
Board Treasurer
Gail is a CPA with over 35 years of experience. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a partner at the accounting firm Alvarez and Company in Laguna Beach. She has been with the firm since 2014. Gail received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton and her Master’s Degree in Business Taxation from the University of Southern California. She began her career with Deloitte, gaining valuable experience. It was at Deloitte that she developed a passion and began specializing in the field of taxation.

Katherine (Kitty) Malcolm
Board Secretary
With over 30 years in law firm management, Kitty Malcolm is experienced in human resources, oversight of financial/accounting departments, oversight of benefit administration, and facilities management. Kitty was an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators, Independence Chapter, from 1995 until retirement. During her tenure with this Association, she participated in several committee, and served as Membership Committee Chair, Education Committee Co-Chair, Vice President and then President of the Chapter for two years. Kitty is the Board Secretary and serves on the Personnel Committee. She also serves as the President of the Woman’s Club in Laguna Beach.

Todd Burns
Member at Large
Todd is the Senior Patent Counsel at Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ and Irvine, CA. In his position, he manages patent prosecution, counseling related to patents, intellectual property agreements, and due diligence. He also counsels senior management regarding licensing and patent enforcement strategies. Todd’s volunteer experience includes Blaze NYC Backpackers, Liberty Human Society, Animal Haven, and Animal Welfare League of Arlington, VA. He has been a member of Laguna Beach Seniors Board since 2019 and also volunteers his time with the LBS Aging-in-Place department (Lifelong Laguna).

Wayne Baglin
Wayne Baglin has been a resident of Laguna Beach since 1969. He has held corporate positions in Human Relations and for over 35 years has owned Baglin Real Estate in Laguna Beach. He served three times as Laguna Beach Mayor during his three terms on the City Council. Other positions include Chair, State of California; Regional Water Quality Board, San Diego Region; Director, Laguna Beach County Water District; Chair, Aliso Water Management Agency; President, Festival of Arts Board of Directors and Chair, Laguna Beach Arts Alliance. Wayne was born in Glendale, California, graduated from California State University Northridge and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard.

Kathryn Burton Gray
Kathryn Burton Gray is the Founding Partner of SeniorsCapital, LLC which offers financing procurement in bridge and permanent debt, as well as equity for the Seniors Housing industry – including all asset classes. Kathryn’s expertise includes: long-term care facilities, with a focus on underwriting and portfolio responsibilities. Kathryn has more than 34 years of banking experience in both large commercial banking platforms and smaller regional and community banks. Kathryn serves on the Foundation Board of Mission Hospital, a St. Joseph’s Hospital subsidiary. She also has participated on a number of other industry specific boards, including executive board positions with ASHA (American Senior Housing Association), and ULI’s (Urban Land Institute) Seniors Housing council.

Gerard (Jerry) Curtin
Jerry Curtin is a 22-year resident of Laguna Beach. A lifelong student of Spanish and English, Jerry’s B.A. was in Spanish and American History. After several years of working and teaching high school English, Jerry went back to law school, and slogged through the field of corporate law for 26 years until semi-retiring in 2018. Jerry supports the Board as a problem solver with passion for maximizing use of technology to improve outcomes and efficiency.

Gregg DeNicola MD
After completing his residency in Family Medicine at UCLA/Northridge, Dr. DeNicola set up his medical practice in Yorba Linda, which he grew thru the 1980’s and 90’s, founding Caduceus Medical Group in the process. He served as CEO of Caduceus and founded a chain of Urgent Care centers in Orange County called PDQ. Dr. DeNicola relocated his medical practice to Laguna Beach in 2000. Being a history enthusiast, he joined the Laguna Beach Historical Society and also served as President. He is also the President and founder of the Citrus Historical and Preservation League.

Tim Dorton
Tim Dorton brings a wealth of experience as well as a genuine passion for helping people whether through his business or by way of serving the community as a Board member. In his role as the Managing Partner of TMD Associates Group, LLC, Tim oversees and fosters strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 clients for promotion of Leadership & Development Advisory Services. Concurrently, he serves as an Advisor and Partner for Home Helpers of Laguna Hills, Newport Beach, Balboa Peninsula, and Costa Mesa. Prior to this, Tim held positions as a Regional Director at the Disney Institute, New Horizons, and IBM Institute Franklin Covey where he was named IBM’s Advance Technical and Multi-Media dealer in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. In 2021, Tim was nominated by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear for the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to Ambassadors of Goodwill and Fellowship.

Christopher Regan
Christopher Regan has led an impressive 32-year career as a leader and innovator working in the water industry. For the past 19 years, he has served as the Assistant General Manager at the Laguna Beach County Water District, overseeing public affairs, marketing, media relations, water use efficiency efforts, water education, and information technology.
Prior to this, Regan worked for Soquel Creek Water District as its Manager of Public Affairs and Media Relations. He was also responsible for the District’s conservation efforts and was recognized with a Theodore Roosevelt Environmental Award by the Association of California Water Agencies. Regan has volunteered his time on several boards, including Habitat for Humanity, Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County, and the Public Relations Society of America.

Monica Richards
A native of Californian, Monica Richards grew up in Laguna Beach where she enjoyed the beach life for many years before moving to Santa Ana with her husband Mark and 2 rescue Siberian Huskies, Bodhi and Emily. Monica’s career includes 33 years at the Superior Court of California. Her family (mom and uncle) took pleasure in taking part in various activities at the Susi Q center and specially enjoyed bingo. So, in their honor, Monica participates in Bingo as a volunteer and supports the program through her generous gifts.

Kathryn (Kathy) Salter
Kathy Salter has 35 years of experience in the financial services industry and is frequently asked to present in-depth financial seminars to organizations, corporations, and small-business owners. She joined the LBS Board in 2022 and also serves as the Board Chairwoman of Human Options shelter for battered women and children in Irvine. Her past volunteer experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for St. Jude hospital.
