Ninety percent of older adults in Laguna Beach want to stay in their hometown as they age, according to a 2016 CSUF study. Yet, according to AARP, only 10% of homes are generally suitable for aging in place. Most homes will need minor modifications.
Modifications may be as simple as decluttering and organizing, removing throw rugs, improving lighting, cleaning up electrical cords, or installing grab bars or handrails along stairs and sloping walkways.
Lifelong Laguna’s Home Modification Assessment consists of a home visit followed by a customized Home Modification Report. The report provides you with suggestions for modifications that improve your safety, well-being, and independence.
The Home Modification Assessment is completed by Susi Q staff who hold an Executive Certificate in Home Modification from the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology or volunteers with equitable experience. There is no cost for this service.
