We’re excited about Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU). They’re a great option when retired homeowners need extra income to cover their expenses. ADUs also have the potential to create affordable housing for longtime locals, and help our hometown meet challenging State housing mandates.
The good news is that it keeps getting easier to explore your options and navigate the ADU process. There’s a wealth of ADU information on AARP’S website, including this comprehensive booklet. The State has also updated its ADU handbook. (Click the images below to download a PDF.)
More good news: The City’s Community Services staffers are looking for ways to streamline the ADU development process. You can learn all about it on the updated ADU section on the City’s website. They agreed to fund a pilot project to loan iPads to low-income seniors in Laguna to help them stay connected at a time when they needed also stay isolated to stay well.
